Uhm that's true. In fact the top bar in Photoshop has a lighter effect, probably due to its different antialias. I'll try with a smaller font and a wider kerning in order to keep the horizontal spacing. :)

Thanks. :)

Love the article and the redesign.

But it's only my two cents :)

About the english switch: it has many reasons.
First, I want to talk, discuss and interact with english-speakers and an italian blog is killing any chance to do that.
Second, I want to improve my english, and there's no better way than using it.
Third, I've got an high bar on "quality", so I don't have a bar on language. Also, tweeting in english helped me to tweet in an instant anything in english, so there's no "english barrier" anymore I think.

Identity: I use different channels with different objectives. For example Facebook is "just keep in contact, add anyone". FriendFeed is more like "select who you'd like to chat with". Twitter is "international contacts" and so on. Every network has its usage for me, so I really want to avoid merging them in a single box.
As I've said in the other post about identity: I've got a complex mind and I need different contexts, different social groups and different masks.

This box is "quality" and "international". I'll give it try. :)

I totally agree that lowering the barrier on writing is essential. Actually, it was the reason that forced me to switch to blogging in italian after a couple of english-only years. Since now you're making the opposite transition: what about it?

Also: I suppose you gave some thought to the issue of scattered identities in the net (a blog here, a twittere there, a tumbler that way...). I'm often musing on whether we should try to collect them all in one place, to really consolidate an identity. On the other hand, different identities are likely to have different audiences, so maybe they're good where they are. Did you consider this? Why did you choose to stick with the blog, in the end?

I checked all the main CSS framework tools around and in the end I chose 960.gs because after a few tests it was the one with more support and with a ruleset that I preferred.

You can build a custom grid even with 960.gs, the problem I've mentioned above was about finding a combination of width + pad + columns that could fit in 1000px with a 600px column and a side-column wide enough to fit some other things. :)

Thanks for sharing.

Next time you need a CSS framework you may try blueprint (I'm sure you know it): the interesting thing is that it easily allows to create custom-sized grid based on custom-sized column.
